Life has been fairly mundane lately, and nobody seems to be checking this blog anyway. So I think this will be the last post for a while...

I do not know what that is. If that is "all him" then he must suffer from back problems. Or maybe that's the only place to keep your fresh fruit on the way to the beach...

Freeze!

This one used to be a Brazilian cop on their SWAT team. It appears that now he's into porn. And since this was the only pic that did not show his 'gun' you'll either have to take my word for it or look it up, that he's packin!

Pics

I got a hold of Nauber's camera today, and loaded a ton of pics onto my computer. So, I have the terabyte of Disney photos (not Really). And a couple other little trips, including last weekend's Six Flags visit. So, here is photo of Nauber.

And this is before he cut his hair. I was happy to see it go. He wore it gelled and smoothed, pulled into a ponytail. Sleeping with this mop in your face was not fun, tho, which is why I was in favor of the buzz.

Friends

When I started undergrad, years ago, I ended up having a high number of friends who were black and latina girls. So far, at grad school, the first person from a class I kind of friended was also a black girl, and when I went to the grad student social, I met two more. I think this proves the tendency to have "dark meat" boyfriends is not my fault. I am not seeking out girls, so the fact that I am gravitating to African-American girls for friendly encounters is not a conscious decision on my part. If it "just happens" with girls, you should believe me when I say it "just happens" with guys.

Here are a few samples. A singer, a model, and an actor. You should recognize them!

Your Highness

This morning Nauber said I should make breakfast for us, because I'm the husband. I asked what that made him. He said he is the King. Later in the day he said he wanted to live in an apartment building we saw in Cambridge because it looked like a tower, so he could tell everyone he was a princess trapped in a tower, in need of a knight to rescue him. This one has no shining armor, but I'd let him rescue me!

Cirque

Wednesday night we went to see Alegria. Leading up to the show, he claimed it was his favorite (from what he'd seen on TV or YouTube), but after the show, he ranked it third. Out of the three he's seen live. In other words, least favorite... It was a lot of gay guys prancing around in tights, clowns acting out really lengthy skits, and a little bit of acrobatics and contortionists.

This one's not on a flying trapeze, but definitely eye-candy!!

Roommate Found

After a scramble, and a lot of dead-end leads, I got someone to agree to take the room. Young kid from India, whose father is paying all the bills. Seems reliable, and he was OK when I mentioned the gay thing. He said he will stop by tomorrow with a deposit, and get me first and last months' rent in about two days. I pulled the Craigslist posting. He's a junior, so would need to be around for two years, as well. Hopefully this works out for us all!

Cars

After a lot of back-and-forth and hassle, we sold Ronny's car. Mine, however, has not been moving. We also can not attract any interest in the empty room at our apartment, either. And can we please get an end to this humidity!!

Finally

We got our internet hooked up on Friday. But the wireless card I bought for my computer caused it to not work, so it took a little more time to get myself up and running.

So, Friday's hottie is a little late. But this should make up for it:

All Kinds 'o Yumm

Today I picked up the keys to the apartment, and dropped off a car-load of stuff. Nauber seems excited about some aspects, and not excited about others. He said he is going to miss all of his "people" in Worcester. Mind you, he's been prattling on about moving to Boston since I met him (and was moving to CA at the time, sigh).

And technically, I am "moving in" with my boyfriend. This is a first for me. We will have separate bedrooms, of course. We kind of need the closet space, anyway!

And her intent is to do what, again??

I forgot to mention that while I was at the Wave Bar at the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown, a Lady Gaga video came on. I actually overheard someone say:

"She's not that attractive. If her songs weren't so good, she wouldn't be as popular."

So, how you do YOU pick your favorite singers??

Boom Boom Ptown

This past weekend was the 4th of July holiday. Brazil's independence is celebrated on September 7. Nauber said he had never missed a parade for Brazil independence, so while in the USA, he seems to celebrate ours as a proxy. Of the myriad places he wanted to go (NYC, DC, Philly, Vegas) we ended up in Provincetown.

We left about 9:30 Friday (7/3/09) morning, so traffic was pretty decent all the way out. Slowdown leading to the Bourne bridge, and lots of stopping for left-turners along Rte 6 along the outer cape - which is to be expected - but pretty light yet.

Mykael was following separately because he had an allergist appointment. It was after 7pm when he showed up, because he hit heavy traffic. We had brought a mountain of food, most of which was 'donated' by Panera Bread. Between the free breakfast at the hotel and the snacks, fruit, sandwiches, etc. that we had brought along, we rarely ate out, other than ice cream. That saved us a huge chunk of money. But Nauber and I did go out for lunch on Friday afternoon. Since Mykael (severely seafood allergic) was not there yet, we got some calamari. Lunch itself was a avocado/caramelized onion burger with a side of fries, split between us. All a bit on the pricey side (The Patio, in PTown - I was expecting food choices to be pricey). The waiter followed the burger with a second batch of calamari. Somebody made a mistake. The waiter checked, and asked if we wanted him to take it away. I said what else would they do with it, so he let us keep it free. He even apologized! No apology needed for free calamari!

Nauber and I then wandered town a bit. Stopped at WA. Went to the serenity garden in the back. We were sitting on the center bench for a bit, then wandered over into the corner. As we headed out, my sensor went off, and I saw a cute dark-skinned guy on the bench with a couple friends. As I began to recognize the face, he spoke, and the voice confirmed it quickly. It was Sergio. He didn't see us, and Nauber does not know him, so we just left. I went the rest of Friday and Saturday without seeing him. Sunday night we stopped in at the Wave Bar again. (It was free, compared to $25 for the Paramount bar on the other side of the pool on Saturday, and $20 on Sunday.) After entering, Mykael wanted to pee, and I kind of did, too. I followed him into the bathroom. He was first, so got the (only) urinal. The (only) stall was occupied, as well, so I waited. The stall-user finished first, so the door opens, and I turn to go in. The person exiting the stall was Sergio. No avoidance possible here. Mild "how are you" and "are you here with anyone" chatter, and he left. I don't think Mykael was even paying attention, because he didn't ask about it.

The parade was quite short, and was mostly fire trucks blasting their sirens. The fireworks started promptly and 9, and were actually quite impressive. They did it in four little 5-minute 'waves', so it was single-fire for a bit, then a grand-finale style flourish. The first time through, I thought it WAS the grand finale, after a mere 5 minutes. But they kept going! There must have been a technical glitch as well, because about 15 or 20 minutes after they ended, there was another 3 minutes or so of single-fire launched.

Nauber and Mykael spent a couple hours on both Saturday and Sunday lounging poolside or sand-side. Both times it was at the hotel, Provincetown Inn. We were very happy with the place, and pleased to find a fridge in the room, too. With all the food we had brought along, it saved us from raiding the ice machine all weekend. The pool was big enough to swim in, so Nauber got a little swimming in, as well. More on Sunday when the crowd was a bit thinner. Did a lot of walking, some shopping (mostly looking), and went to the Pilgrim Monument. They apparently stopped doing the free Sunday morning entrance a couple seasons ago, so I paid the $7 each for Nauber and I to go. The $10/ea pirate museum on the wharf, tho, we skipped.

The Varla Jean show was on Mykael's to-do list, until he found out there is a new theater, so tickets are now $30 instead of reasonably priced, so we didn't go. He was also chattering about getting a tattoo (to cover up the 'stains' left by an afternoon of goofing around with a needle and ink with alchie/felon Jason) but didn't end up doing that either. We did get ice cream a couple times. Not surprisingly, the Lewis Bros (site under development) was better than at Spiritus.

I do not know why, but straight people apparently LOVE going to Provincetown for the 4th. Of course, shortly after the fireworks ended, the buses started hauling them back to Wellfleet or Orleans or wherever they were seeping in from. Of course, it is just that style of cross-cultural blending that helps build the tolerance we are looking for. Gay/lesbian couples acting all coupley in the company of straights doing the same thing is not common outside the gay enclaves, so it is encouraging to see that many straight couples and families that don't mind.

Party Animal

This weekend we are heading to Provincetown to celebrate early July. PTown has fireworks of its own, even! We are planning to leave early Friday morning to beat the heavy traffic (hopefully) out Route 6. Which means my usual Friday post of hot guys will have to come a little early this week! Below is a widely circulating pic from the Borat sequel Bruno promo tour. This was in Spain. Mr Cohen is not my type, but the matadors are kinda hot!

Dark Lady

Last weekend was Providence pride. We made it to the parade, stayed by the mall. It was a SHORT parade, so we had dinner afterwards. Ducked into the Napa Grille; I do not recommend it. The food was Okay. And expensive. I like okay and cheap or expensive and fantastic. We then walked over to Dark Lady for the block party. Had a nice time. Said hi to Kendall - who was bartending, and gave us a discount. Chatted with Jean (Dennison's roomie) for a bit. Bumped into Narrin; I said Hi. He was all Heyyyy! and then flitted off, never to be spotted again. There was this hot black guy there, who seemed to be standing in front of me the entire night. If I wasn't happily coupled, I'd have definitely approached him. He had big dark sunglasses on the whole time, so I didn't actually see his face, but he Totally looked like Darryl Stephens, with maybe a 5-year lead. He even had this hairdo! In lieu of a shirt, he was wearing a black vest. What you could see was quite similar, as well.

Waving Little Flags

This weekend was Boston Pride. It was Sao Paulo pride, too, incidentally. So, Nauber was a little discontented to begin with. He had been trying to gather a big group of people to all go to Boston together. That failed miserably. Ronny and Andre got there well after the parade ended, and Nauber was clamoring for lunch. Mykael was also running late - as always. Brad and Cris skipped Pride and came into town late at night to see Rocky Horror. I passed on that since the last time I went it was broing as hell, now that the staff does all the interacting and the audience just watches the staff watch the show.

Mykael did join us briefly while we had a spot of lunch. Nauber got distracted by the A|X, so we got to the block party about 45 minutes before it ended. They were still charging cover, so we headed to Club Cafe instead. Mykael and Ronny/Andre said they were coming to join us. None of them did. Got tired, and went home instead.

So, Nauber and I walked to JP Licks (didn't realize they had 8 locations) on Newbury to get ice cream, then wandered around the BU campus area, and I pointed out my college spots. All in all, he was bored. He wanted the crazy excitement that any party in Brazil seems to attract, but got more of a typical New England ho-hum. He wanted to go to Roxy, as well, but I refused to go because the $40 cover seemed excessive. Which means I was partly to blame for the boringness.

He seems to want to go to Providence next weekend. We'll see how that turns out. Providence Pride tends to be more boring than Boston, and if Boston fizzled this year, I'm not sure how good Providence will be. The following weekend will be NYC Pride. He hasn't clearly stated his desires for that weekend, though I did point out he'd want to take Friday night and Saturday off from work, and that seemed to get a "can't do that" sort of reaction.

Meanwhile, Ronny found a 5 bedroom house for rent in Allston, nowhere near a T-stop, that he is insisting would be a GREAT place to move. Nauber keeps saying he wants to move to Cambridge. The red-line access would be better there, but I keep telling him we can't afford the rent there.

35 - and So What

Another year older, and another year where nobody cares that it is my birthday. My BF planned to spend tonight with Mykael because he "hasn't seen him in a while". I got a little testy. Didn't say why. Don't know if he'll change plans because I asked to spend time together tonight. All my friends (local) seem to throw BD parties for each other every single year, but never have I had one. I realize I'm being whiny and petty and complaining, but I guess the cold rainy day that nobody notices is just getting me down. So, here's a little present to myself.

Fun Weekend

Saturday afternoon I was over at Brad's house, playing silly board games again. In the evening, I picked up Nauber and we headed to Framingham to pick up Geremias. He had agreed to come back to town with us, so I asked Russell if he could crash at the house, and we were all set.

We grabbed dinner in Framingham. For those of you not local, Framingham is an epicenter of Brazilian settlement. Look up the province of Minas on a map of Brazil. Then picture that territory devoid of people because they all live in Massachusetts. That's the joke, but it's based on reality. Geremias guided us to a churrascaria ('zilian BBQ), but Nauber got all pouty and said he wanted to go to Ruby Tuesday instead. He loves their salad bar... Geremias said fine, and that's where we went. We all got the combos, which are like $9 and include the salad bar ($8.50 on its own).

Nauber slept at his house, and went to church in the morning. He said he'd call when he got back. Geremias and I drove around town for a little while in the morning, and I showed him the mansions on Salisbury hill, and picked up some a bunch of berries at the produce stand. Nauber was running a little late because he had decided to do LAUNDRY. So, grabbed Ronny instead, and ran to the store to pick up soda. When Nauber was finally ready we stopped in at the Brazilian bakery for a little bite to eat (breakfast at noon!) and some coffee - I had chocolate milk. Stopped at the liquor store and bought Smirnoff's (strawberry acai is excellent, and we tried the mango, which is also very good) and Brazilian beer (cerveja).

There was big party to go to at Rick and Andre's. Their birthdays are about the same time, so they have a joint party. A gay couple inviting all their friends and family to one big party. You may recall one of these from a while ago, when cutie Junior was still around, and HERE are the details. No pictures this time around, though. Nauber and Geremias were surprised how many people there were, and what a total mixed crowd it was. There was some self-segregating, but everybody got along well. The gays were mostly American/Brazilian couples (Nauber&I, Brad&Cris, Rick&Andre, plus a couple others whose names I don't know) and their friends, so that was culturally mixed. The straights further split off into the Americans over by the beer cooler and the Brazilians over by the grill. They love churrasco, so gladly ran the grill all day long. No hotdogs this year, tho.

Nauber actually knew a couple people there, including this lady who had bought some chicken at KFC a couple weeks ago. She is American but has lived in Brazil her whole life, has been here a couple months to take care of some things, and was at the party with one of her sons. Turns out they run a small intra-Americas business, and are looking for people in their USA/LatinAmerica operations, as well as their Central/SouthAmerica operations. Geremias speaks Portuguese and Spanish (not much English yet, so Nauber's one up on him there) so spent a fair amount of time talking with them, and exchanged contact info. Nauber and Geremias were both very excited to meet so many new people, though mostly they met more Brazilians, and primarily the gay ones at that. Nauber was also excited to meet Rick's chickens and rabbits!

Psycho-ex was there, too. And being civil. We actually conversed briefly, and he gets along with Ronny now, too.

One of the Brazilian gays was bartending. The drink of choice was caipirinha, though the fruit and cream version (I saw strawberry or pineapple) was big, too. I don't like cachaca (with a tail on that last 'c' like the french, which makes it sound like an 's') because it tastes like tequila, so I didn't have any. Nauber, however, had several. Possibly too many. He got rather drunk. At one point, I'm holding him in the bathroom as he starts crying and says he misses all his old friends. He also said "I love you" which I should have been excited about, since it was the first time, but since he was really drunk, and I don't think he even remembers saying it, I'm letting it wash over me. Mykael ended up taking Geremias back home, and I just brought Nauber back to my place. He immediately plopped down on the bed, and started making gurgly noises. I suggested he go to the bathroom, but he grunted, and stayed there. For about 10 seconds. Until the vomit sprayed out across his clothes and my blanket. Guess who did a special load of laundry the next day!

Not the most auspicious ending, but overall a great day. The chocolate dipped strawberries were especially worth it!

Own a Piece of History

For $2.3M, you could own the house used in Ferris Bueller's Day Off as his friend Cameron's home (garage included!) And it's being listed by John Hughes sister!! (Not really - I made that up, but her name IS Hughes...)

Without Pretense

His name is Thiago, which is a variation on Tiago. Both of which are very indicative of Brazilian, but the "misspelling" with the 'h' is especially so.

Make you Sweat

We're having another blast of summer. About 90 yesterday, probably about 95 today. Tomorrow will be like 70 and raining, so it's not permanent heat. And of course, Nauber wanted to go to "the beach" last night. Where we could go at 6:30pm from here, to find a beach, I don't know. Maybe I should have just hosed him down in the back yard!

Validation is Great

I took the GMAT exam (business school admissions test) this morning. And the estimated score (they still have to read the essays) came back as 760 out of 800, which places me in the 99th percentile. I am in the top 1% of all GMAT takers!! I haven't turned dumb, even after all those years at the essence-draining job I had.

My friend Nish, upon hearing me exult, replied with "Well, you can go anywhere - you should try for Harvard!" Turns out I missed the app deadline there by two months. So, no Harvard. (Images of Elle Woods "you mean like on vaca!?" kept dancing through my head!) So, UMass Boston will most likely still end up being the school I go to. Though wouldn't that be cool if UC San Diego (who will receive the scores) calls me up to chat??

Hot Mormon Boys

I know a fair number of people who have expressed the opinion that Mormon boys are often quite yummy. Their religion tends to be a little uptight about sex, even compared to other Christian denominations. Maybe it is that unavailability that lends them that extra touch of desirability.

Well, one Mormon decided to make them more accessible! He got excommunicated for his efforts. But let us rejoice in the fruits of his labor.

Epic Brazilian

I get the feeling that the Boston gay club scene is being overrun by Brazilians. I was at Epic again this past weekend. Went with Nauber and Mykael. We picked up Nauber's friend Geremias on the way into Boston, as well. Ronny would have come, but he was tired from working too much again.

At the club, I bumped into Diego and Marcelo. Marcelo and Geremias do know each other from the mutual friends that invited Geremias to come to Framingham. Marcelo (Mr. I'll You Tomorrow) was a bit flirty until I pointed out (3rd time) that Nauber (that guy right there) is 'meu namorado'. Diego also was flirty, but he was there with his boyfriend, so it was risk-free. He did apparently like my hair, too. I buzzed it all off again.

We met up with Nish there, and were all hanging out together. Then Nish's ex, Mark, shows up. I said hello, and he mentioned that he "was not expecting to see" me there. It seemed like an odd thing to say, so I had a feeling it meant Sergio was around. Sure enough, I did see him out on the dancefloor later, though I did not go over to say hello, and he did not come over to me, either.

Mateus was there, as always. It's getting tiresome trying to draw his attention, so I didn't chase him down to say hello. He is always there with at least 4 other friends, all Brazilian, having a good time. Either he was too wrapped up in his bubble of a world, or just didn't want to say hello to me.

I also saw the latino guy from last summer, Juno, out on the dancefloor. He was with some guy, so I was happy for him. The guy was tall, lanky, dorky, wearing glasses, messy computer-science-major hair. OMG - his type is dorky white guys. That would make me one, to his eyes anyway, too.

When I was college, gay clubs were about 90% white. Looking around this past weekend, I would guess it was around 30% white. A few more blacks than those Olden days, and still not very many Asians, but lots and lots of Hispanics. Eastern Massachusetts is quickly becoming the largest US population of Brazilians, which only started 5/10 years ago, so I don't know how this trend is going across the entire country, but I know at least one person whose happy!

Already

Tuesday of this past week was about 90° outside. It has cooled back down to seasonal temps since then, but Nauber has started insisting on going to the beach. Beach. Beach!

And, yes, this is in Brazil.

Advertise

I saw an ad on TV the other day while at the gym. It was for Tyson chicken nuggets. It kept showing kids not eating their dinner, until the one kid was served the Tyson nuggets, and was so happy. Briefly shown on the screen at the very end of the commercial was a comment that they are made "Now with 100% Natural Ingredients". My first thought was "ughh, what were you serving last month???"

I also saw a website banner ad for a free cell phone with AT&T Wireless service. It looked like a crappy old phone, but came with a free hands-free headset. The little text at the bottom of the ad said "significant restrictions apply". Significant! At least they're being honest.

I don't think this guy is advertising anything, except maybe that he shaves his pubes, but I'd overlook the fine print for him!

Ickky

Yoplait was on sale at the grocery store, so it was fairly well picked-over when I got there. I was choosing a few flavors to buy, and was rather limited. I picked up a Light Thick and Creamy Cinnamon Roll cup, and added it to my cherry and mixed berry.

I have just opened that one, and am currently attempting to eat it. It is rather gross. I have mixed it with some FiberOne cereal, so it's not as gag-inducing as it is on its own. Imagine Pepsi-flavored petroleum jelly, and that's close to what came oozing out of the container. I am reminded of the Onion video pretending to show Dominos Pizza scientists experimenting on how gross a food product people would be willing to eat.

My advice is, skip the Light Thick & Creamy line, especially the 'cinnamon roll'!

Another Brazilian Birthday Party

Saturday there was another birthday party. Nauber asked if I wanted to go. I pointed out that I end up sitting there surrounded by Portuguese-speaking, and can't follow the conversations, so don't join in. Then everyone asks why I am so quiet. However, I did want to spend the evening with him, so I did go. A couple people attempted speaking English, and one lady got very excited when I said "boa noite" (good night) to her.

The birthday boy was Wanderson. He is the boyfriend of Odalia, one of the girls that Nauber works with. And he is really cute. Picture in your mind Mario Lopez with more of a skinny-muscular build and really smiling eyes.

They had a lot of the usual bite-size fried Brazilian foods that you see at all the parties, plus a ton of chocolates, strawberries and a chocolate fountain, and the typical cake (white cake with pineapple and strawberries with various types of cream - whipped, soaked, and custardy filling). A new one was a chicken cake. Seasoned shredded chicken layered with mashed potatoes and white bread, frosted with a mayonnaise based mixture, decorated with olives, potato sticks, and piped 'frosting' of that mayonnaise thing mixed with mustard. The chocolates included the usual coconut/condensed milk mixture, only these had a grape in the middle. Odd texture combination, and the flavors are a little weird together.

As is also typical, about 10, 10:30pm a couple showed up with their 4 year old and 11 month old. I saw the 11 month old at a party a couple months ago, and she already had pierced ears. Who pierces a 6-month old's ears?

Also about that time, a short cute guy showed up. I soon realized it the hottie from the gym that I have ogled for ages, spoke to once (a long time ago), and have referred to as Brazilian Porn Star. He was there with a tall fat chick, who was very white and blonde, but spoke Portuguese, and he introduced as his wife. I'm not sure if he figured out I was there 'with' Nauber, but anyone would have confirmed it if he had asked. His name is apparently Alex, and the braces are now gone. Wifey was scarfing down the chocolates (after a huge piece of cake), and trying to get him to have one, but he kept turning it down. Abs that cut glass come at a cost, you know. He didn't seem to interact with her well. I wonder if the fugly chick from the gym ended things before he could get resident status, so had to find another... (I know, how mean!) He did say he goes to the gym early now, about 6am. He also mentioned he does not go with the wife. You think it was a hint-hint??

Spring

I actually had the top down today! First for 2009! Winter is over!
It was actually a tad cool to be driving topless, but the sun was out, and it was just too nice to pass up the chance. I still had a jacket on, but had the sun shining in my face!

Time to start getting ready for the summer beach season. It would take a lot of work, on the part of a team of expensive specialists, to make me look like this. But a girl can dream...

Pretend to be Surprised

I must admit, I knew this one was Brazilian the second I saw his face, but the original thumbnail I saw did not include the entire background. When I opened the full pic, I saw the logo in the corner. I had to keep this one, just because it was so clearly obvious (which is what "claro" means, the name I gave the file).

More Epic

I should post a little bit about last weekend's trip to the Roxy. Mykael was going with his friend Mike (who puked the last time I was out with him, so he's not my favorite person). Mykael finds Mike a little trying sometimes, as well, so wanted Nauber and I to come. We also brought Ronny. I invited Luther (who bailed at the last minute), and Nish. Mykael had apparently already been in contact with Nish, and he was planning to come with Manny, but the birthday party for Prema raged on into the night, so they didn't make it. I invited Jean, as well - Dennison's roomie. He said he was tired, so couldn't make it, but mentioned Narrin would be there.

Mike was already at Club Cafe, so Mykael, Nauber, Ronny, and I (who all rode in together) stopped there first. Bumped into Mateus, who was SO happy to see me again. I'm guessing he was high. A little TOO enthusiastic.

Saw Dennison and Narrin at Epic, so said hello. I mentioned I hadn't heard from Narrin in ages, he said it had been a complicated time. Then they proceeded to avoid me the rest of the night. Bumped into Diego, who was also really happy to see me, though he didn't seem high.

The new go-go boy looked JUST like Mateus, except for the big tribal tattoo across Mateus' shoulder. They had Lady Bunny stop by to perform, as well as a guest DJ from NYC. He kinda sucked. Young, shirtless, full of himself. He also committed my personal DJ-sin pet peeve; playing songs with extended breaks in the middle. I don't want to stand around 'anticipating' music, I want to keep going.

We also bumped into Brazilian-hottie Michael. Apparently he did not decide to go straight. He kept rubbing up against me every time he walked past. At one point he joined in dancing with Ronny, Nauber, and me. He then proceeded to grab my ass. And not like "Hey nice ass" - more like "I want to fuck you hard". Ronny was kind enough to jump in and explain to him (in Portuguese, so it was easier) that -uh- that guy next to me was my boyfriend, so please stop. Ronny also informed me that his name isn't really Michael. I wasn't surprised at all. But he remembers that is the name he gave, so it all works out.

We left at 2am. Mykael said he could really go for some fries. Then changed that to onion rings. Ronny said he just wanted to go home because he had to be up at 5 for work. Mykael kind of reprimanded him for going out. I pointed he works at a coffee shop, so should be OK. He's been declining invites because he's working all the time, so I think he just wanted to go out again. Can't blame him for that.

OK, OK

You're probably getting a little tired of the Parade of Hotties being more of a Parade of Brazilians. The tattoo on this guy's arm is in Spanish, so I seriously doubt he's Brazilian! Not that Latino is a stretch for me...

California

OK - here's a little info about my trip. San Fran was lovely, the weather was cooperative, if a wee tad on the chilly side for a palm-tree environ. But 60 / 65 is nothing to complain about relative to Massachusetts for this time of year!

I applied at Macy's. Takes like 45 minutes. First thing in the morning I get the rejection. Wow... Checked out Craigslist and found a couple possibles. Sent of a resume. Never heard back. Sigh...

So, did some shopping. Nauber is fond of the A|X, so I got him a shirt.

Mykael had given me a $20 to pick up some Japanese candy, so I took a walk down to Japantown and perused the IchibanKan.

But the main excitement of the trip was heading out to Yosemite National Park for the weekend. Brad had booked a room at the Lodge at the Falls (the reservation lady said the other hotel, Ahwanhee, was booked), so Thursday he ditched work at lunch and we drove out. He would get excited every time he saw a waterfall. Every time. Even if it was the same waterfall we had just seen 30 seconds earlier.

This being the "Lodge" and the "Falls" mentioned in the name; specifically, this is Yosemite Falls (upper). When we were checking in, the clerk asked what room we wanted. I couldn't think of anything else to say, so said, "One with a good view." Our room overlooked the bike path. Spiteful... Brad was displeased with the hotel. Kind of like a Days Inn painted brown. With lots of warnings not to leave anything in your car (bears) or not to leave your windows open (raccoons). We only saw deer and squirrels, though. Dinner that night was good. Brad was lusting after my cobbler after he tasted it and felt it was better than his creme brulee. The blueberry martinis were yummy, too.

Went for a little hike the next morning. Ended up at Mirror Lake.

On our way back, we saw more rocks, and trees, and trees in rocks, and rocks in trees, and butterflies, and babbling brooks. All of a sudden we come across a clearing with a big building in the middle.

I asked if this was the Ahwanhee. He said it must be. I said let's go check it out. It is gorgeous. Compared to the Lodge, this place was stunning. It is a AAA Four Diamond, and on the national register of historic sites. Brad said he should talk to them about hosting conferences, so he can score some points at work. While chatting up staff at the front desk, Brad mentioned we would have stayed there, but they were booked. The desk clerk, Joshua, said they were nowhere near booked. Made a few computer entries, and a quick phone call, and we were 'upgraded' to stay there that night, for substantially less than would have been charged. Brad said he would buy Josh a drink as a thank-you. He said he'd accept. We ended up having several drinks that evening at the lounge, then he joined us for dinner. This dinner was excellent. Brad was happy with his pineapple tart, so I had my tiramisu in peace. Our waiter was a big homo, and Brad even made a suggestive remark at one point, but we were not exactly able to figure out Josh. He had a staff party to go to, so eventually he left, but texted Brad right away to thank him for the lovely evening, and the drinks / dinner. Brad started getting excited. They've texted a few more times back and forth, though I recommended Brad not get too needy or crowding. I thought the best plan of attack was for him to pick a weekend to go visit, call reservations to book at the Ahwanhee (which Josh already said is booked through the peak summer season) and then when he can't get a room call Josh for help. If the response is "Stay at my place!" then he's in. If the response is "Well, let me check if there's anything at the Lodge..." then he is NOT in.

But it would be cool to go back and have a guide there who knows the real ins and outs, and where to go, and when, and how to get there. He mentioned that most of the really cool stuff is off the paths, so most tourists never see it.

Brad wanted to go to the Half Dome, but the snow isn't gone yet, and the paths at the top are closed until about the first of May, so we only got to see it from the tourist paths.

We were also told that the falls had just started flowing about two days before we got there, as the snow-melt kicked into high gear. We ended up picking a good time to go in some respects, and the trip was quite - uhh - fruitful, even if we didn't get in as much hiking as expected.

And one last bit of advice, if you are booking flights to San Francisco, and plan on using public transportation to get to and from SFO, remember the BART train does not start until 8am on Sundays. I ended up taking a cab because I was not aware.

Not Fair

I missed last Friday's Parade post, so to make up for it, I will include three pics on this one.

Nauber was surfing the brazilian websites again, and stumbled upon a blurb about Lance Bass dating a Brazilian guy. Turns out this is his second. Personally, I always thought Lance was fairly unattractive, but he has similar taste in men to me it turns out!

For review, when he first came out, he was with reality TV hottie Reichen

Last year, after those two split up, Lance started seeing a Brazilian model named Pedro. Not the best one I've seen, but I wouldn't throw out of bed...

That didn't last too long. But the 'zilian bug must have stuck. Now he's been seen with this Gustavo. I said I didn't understand what all these guys keep seeing in Lance Bass, and Nauber said it was Gustavo's chance to get his name and picture on blogs and magazines. Well, happy to oblige, I guess. I found one without Lance...
