Epic

Well, this weekend was exciting - for a change!

Friday night, I was at work, of course. Attendance was the highest we've seen in two months, though by only 10 more people. And the weather is finally getting mild, so there are fewer people using the coat-check. Vinnie was in a Foul mood when I first got there. But acting surprised at that would be like sticking your hand in a roaring fire, then acting surprised that it hurt.

The fun part came around 10pm or so. It was still early, and we were still very slow. Bolton showed up (the belligerent drunk from last week), with a big loud obnoxious straight girl. Bolton was trying to be flirty, so they chatted a bit. She mentioned how hot the guy working at the bar next-door is (straight bar), but that he's not into her, because he "has a thing for hot Brazilians". She even left it in the non-gender form. I quickly jumped on the opening and replied, "Oh, I understand! I have a thing for hot Brazilians, too!" Oh, the look of shock, offense, and anger swirling across Bolton's face was priceless!! They went in for a drink, and he didn't try pestering me. They did come back on their way out, of course. She headed out the door, and he stopped by to ask me if I wanted his phone number. I said, "... No." More shocked offense. He missed a beat, then said I was mean, and could have at least said Yes and thrown it away after he left. I just kind of shrugged. He did not leave happy. I'm a bad employee...

Matty turns to me, and says he was right, I was mean, I could have said yes and pitched it after. I just gave him a raised-eyebrow look. He paused a second, then conceded that the result of that would have been for Bolton to come in the following weekend, all saccharine and annoying, asking me why I never called. As I have said before, I am not fond of Games. I meant NO, so I said NO. Whatever.

Saturday, my friend Nish had some gay activist ceremony to go to for work (LONG story) at the Hyatt in Boston, so he had asked if I wanted to meet up with him afterwards and go to Epic, at the Roxy. That's THE gay club on Saturday, apparently. I said sure. As Saturday evening rolled around, I started feeling lazy, and was enjoying the Taye Diggs movies playing on Oxygen. So I was contemplating bailing on him, but decided it would be good for me to get out to Boston again. Missed the last half hour of The Best Man, but I put on my cute little red Guess shirt that I "got" from Shirtless Confused Brazilian a few months ago, the cute jeans Ronny gave me as a gift while we were together, and my brown steel-toe Doc Martins. I didn't shave, which along with the buzzed haircut, gives me a certain Wentworth Miller look! (deluded, I know) Grabbed some money, and headed to Boston. I pulled in to the Natick travel plaza to pee, and Nish calls. "What are you doing?" I said I was about to go pee. He got a little bit upset and asked why I wasn't coming to Boston! I clarified that I was about to pee at the travel plaza, and he calmed down a bit. (I did that on purpose.) Got into town, and circled around Tremont a little. I found an open meter spot, and parked. Met up with Nish and Daniel, and went to the Roxy!

I had told myself to smile, enjoy myself, and project confidence. I know what my issues are, and I was trying to work around them! As we turned from coat check to head into the fray, a cute latino guy caught my eye and smiled at me! I smiled back, with the appropriate lingering gaze. But he rather Screamed Bottom, so I didn't make a big deal out of it. We got drinks (SO much more expensive than I'm used to!!) and stood there taking in the scene. I saw a cute guy walk past, then realized - Oh My Gawd - it was Mateus! The long-time followers of this blog may remember Mateus from ages ago. Another friend in that group of Brazilians that I totally had a thing for. So, I ran after him, called out his name. He didn't recognize me at first, but did say I look VERY different than the last time he saw me. Quite true. He would really only have seen the preppy, shaved, with-hair look. He was touchy and friendly, and said yea we should meet up sometime. He said he's single, and he would definitely give me his phone number. Dumbass me had left it in my jacket - now in coatcheck - assuming I would have NO need for my phone while I was dancing!

I went back over to Nish, and we headed onto the dance floor. There was this cute, short, muscley guy that caught my attention. To my surprise, as he walked past, he leaned over and kissed me. I said to Nish, "I don't know him!" Nish replied, "Whore!" I laughed! And I kept smiling! It was suddenly getting easy to smile and have a good time!! As we continued to dance, I looked over and saw who I thought looked like Cris. I asked Nish if he thought it was Cris, and he asked "Chris who?" I said the one from Brad and Cris. Nish said "Oh Brad and Cris are here?" I said, "NOooooo..... just Cris!" He didn't quite catch the implication and ran over to say hi. Cris was not especially pleased to see us, but said hello and introduced us to his ... friends. One was Davis, the big ugly obnoxious one that I have loathed for quite some time now. Then Cris quickly decided to 'walk around' and left. He basically avoided us like SARS victims all night. Nish asked me if I thought Brad knew Cris was there. I said my guess was that Brad thought Cris was 'at his sister's house'.

Then Nish pointed a guy in a white shirt somewhat across the room, and asked if that was some guy from my club. I looked for a couple seconds, and was like, Oh My Gawd - it was Marcelo. As in Mr I'll Call You Tomorrow. I went on a fruit-loop to see if I could track him down and say Oh Hi, but I did not see him again all night. Kept seeing short muscley guy, and smiling, waving, flirting, dancing in his general direction. At one point we even made out briefly. He had a nice tight ass, too. In my travels, I saw Mateus a couple times, but he was tightly tied into his group of friends, and getting progressively more drunk. Then, as I squeezed past some tall broad-shouldered hot shirtless guy, he grabbed my butt. I was Popular!! Of course, by this time I was starting to wonder if my attire was throwing off too much of a Top vibe. I know, I know, it seems incomprehensible to even say that, but who knows.

They had like 4 go-go boys, and three shot boys. The shot boys were done up in tight little baseball outfits, very nice. The dancers ran a spectrum of black to brown to white. I - surprise! - liked the brown and black the best. Particularly the brown... Which leads back to Mateus. He left early. After getting our coats back from coatcheck, I wanted to grab his number, but they all had left already. I did see the latino guy from when I first came in. He smiled and winked again. I reciprocated. But I was rather upset that I missed Mateus.

I have to ask Cris if he still has Mateus's number. If I don't tell Brad about EVERYONE that I saw there that night, Cris would at Least owe me a phone number!

I got back to my car, and found a parking ticket. I was thinking I was at a meter spot on Tremont, so didn't even pay attention, but I was actually on Shawmut, right where Tremont takes a sharp turn and turns INTO Shawmut if you don't follow the bend. And Shawmut is metered during the day and resident only at night. So, I spent $40 on parking! Which explains how I found a meter spot so close without fighting anyone.

I need to go to Boston more often again. I would rather make a weekend of it, though. Head out earlier on Saturday, meet up with friends, hang out, go to dinner, then go clubbing, crash in town, maybe do brunch, eventually head back home later on Sunday. Drive in, dance, drive home just gets too obnoxious. I even spent $7.20 just on tolls. If I had Mateus's number...
